Pull-up repetition calculator.
Compare a completed set of unassisted pull-ups with Repolve’s repetition benchmarks. Get a score for your pull-ups and track comparable sets over time.
Calculate your pull-up score
Enter unassisted bodyweight repetitions only. Do not include weighted or assisted sets. Inputs stay in your browser.
A worked pull-up example
Eight completed unassisted repetitions using male standards produce an exercise score of 47 (novice). This illustrative example uses the production repetition model. Bodyweight and estimated one-rep max are not inputs.
Pull-up calculator questions
Can I enter assisted or weighted pull-ups?
No. Enter unassisted bodyweight repetitions only. Added weight, assistance and kipping change the comparison.
Is this a one-rep max calculator?
No. Completed repetitions are compared directly with sex-specific benchmarks. The result is an exercise score, not a population percentile.
Muscles worked
Back, with elbow flexors assisting and the trunk stabilizing the movement. In Repolve’s scoring model, this exercise supplies primary evidence for back. Training involvement and scoring coverage are different things.
Make your sessions comparable
Use the same grip, range of motion, and controlled technique. Keep kipping, band-assisted, machine-assisted, and weighted sets separate from unassisted repetitions.
How the estimate works
The production engine compares completed unassisted repetitions with sex-specific pull-up thresholds. No estimated one-rep max or bodyweight ratio is calculated. These benchmarks are product reference points, not population percentiles. Weighted and assisted sets are outside this tool’s scope.
Pull-Up strength standards
These repetition reference points come directly from Repolve’s production standards. They describe exercise benchmarks, not population percentiles or age-adjusted rankings.
| Reference | Score | Male reps | Female reps |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beginner | 20 | 0 | 0 |
| Novice | 40 | 5 | 0 |
| Intermediate | 60 | 14 | 6 |
| Advanced | 100 | 25 | 15 |
| Elite | 125 | 37 | 26 |
These are the production repetition reference points. Some female reference points share zero reps; they are not distinct observed ability levels. The calculator accepts completed sets of at least one rep.
This calculator gives an individual exercise score. Unassisted pull-ups use a separate repetition model.

Track progression
Track the number of comparable repetitions over time. A pull-up exercise score describes this lift; the overall calculator currently accepts weighted ratio-based exercises, not this separate repetition model.
Common variations
This calculator covers unassisted bodyweight pull-ups only. Weighted pull-ups use a separate added-load model in the app; assisted pull-ups and chin-ups should not be entered here as equivalent repetitions.

About this calculator
Written by Repolve to explain its own scoring model. Calculations and benchmark tables use the same engine and exercise standards as the app. Worked examples are illustrative, not customer results. Estimates describe logged performance; they do not directly measure muscle size or diagnose a training imbalance.
